  • 1 lb lean ground turkey
  • 1 can (15 oz) kidney beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 can (15 oz) black beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper

Instructions

  1. Sauté the chopped onion in a skillet over medium heat until translucent (about 5 minutes). Add minced garlic and cook for another minute.
  2. Add the ground turkey to the skillet. Cook until browned (approximately 7 minutes).
  3. Transfer the turkey mixture to the slow cooker. Add kidney beans, black beans, diced tomatoes (with juices), chili powder, cumin, salt, and black pepper.
  4. Stir well to combine all ingredients.
  5. Cover and cook on low for 6 hours or high for 3 hours without opening the lid during cooking.
  6. Once cooked, stir again before serving. Top with shredded cheese or sour cream if desired.
