  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • ½ cup ketchup
  • ¼ cup brown sugar

Instructions

  1. Trim excess fat from the pork shoulder and cut it into large chunks. Season generously with salt and pepper.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, sauté the sliced onion until translucent. Add minced garlic and cook until fragrant.
  3. Layer the sautéed onions in the bottom of the slow cooker, then add the seasoned pork. Drizzle with apple cider vinegar and top with apple butter.
  4. In a bowl, mix ketchup, brown sugar, and cinnamon until smooth. Pour over the pork.
  5. Cook on low for about 8 hours or high for 4–5 hours until the pork is tender enough to shred.
  6. Shred the pork directly in the pot and mix with sauce before serving on buns or over rice.
