  • 2 lbs beef chuck roast
  • 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 large sweet onion, chopped
  • 2 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 6 pita breads
  • 1 cup tzatziki sauce
  • 1 cup diced tomatoes
  • 2 cups shredded lettuce

Instructions

  1. Sear the beef in olive oil over medium-high heat until browned on all sides (about 3 minutes per side).
  2. Transfer the beef to the slow cooker and add chopped onion, garlic, oregano, cumin, and half a cup of water or broth.
  3. Cover and cook on low for about 8 hours until the beef is tender and easily shredded.
  4. Once done, shred the beef with two forks in its juices.
  5. Warm pita bread briefly in the oven or microwave, then fill with shredded beef, diced tomatoes, lettuce, and tzatziki sauce.
