Ingredients

For the Beef

  • 1 pound beef strips (sirloin or flank)

For the Sauce

  • 1/4 cup hoisin sauce
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce preferably low-sodium

For the Veggies

  • 2 cups mixed vegetables (bell peppers, carrots) or any fresh vegetables available
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 inch ginger minced

For the Noodles

  • 8 ounces noodles (lo mein, udon, or ramen) choose your favorite type

For Finishing Touches

  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil use sparingly
  • 2 scallions green onions sliced for garnish
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

Cooking Steps

  • Begin by slicing the beef into thin strips, ensuring it's easier to stir-fry quickly. Chop your choice of fresh vegetables and mince the garlic and ginger for maximum flavor.
  • Bring a large pot of water to a boil and cook the noodles according to package instructions until al dente. Drain the noodles, rinse them under cold water, and set aside to cool.
  • Heat a tablespoon of oil in a large pan or wok over high heat. Add the sliced beef strips and toss gently for about 2-3 minutes, or until they turn golden brown. Remove the beef from the pan and keep it warm.
  • In the same pan, add a bit more oil if necessary. Stir-fry the minced garlic, ginger, and firmer vegetables like bell peppers and carrots for 2-3 minutes, allowing them to soften slightly.
  • Return the cooked beef to the pan and pour in the hoisin sauce and soy sauce. Toss everything together before adding the noodles, cooking for an additional 2 minutes until well mixed and heated through.
  • Drizzle sesame oil over the dish, mixing well one last time. Remove the pan from heat and garnish with sliced green onions and a sprinkle of sesame seeds for added crunch.

Notes

Serve with lime wedges for an extra zesty kick. Make sure to taste the hoisin sauce before using, as sweetness can vary by brand. Adjust with soy sauce or lime if needed. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
